CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS:

  1. The Intersection between Western and Eastern Philosophies: In addition to having published many articles on this topic, such as “Was Epicurus a Buddhist?” and “Did Santa Die on the Cross?,” I have also edited a book related to this subject (Manga and Philosophy) and am currently writing another book about ancient philosophies of death in both the West and East and how these philosophies influenced one another (Ancient Philosophies of Death). My interest in the intersection between western and eastern comes from my time as an exchange student in Japan, my travel experience and my current position teaching philosophy in Korea.

  2. The Intersection between Philosophy and Popular Culture: In over twenty articles, such as “C. S. Lewis: Sexist and Masculine Idolater?” and “Beyond Good? Beyond Evil? Beyond Your Wildest Imagination?”, and in my first book, C. S. Lewis and Philosophy as a Way of Life, I devoted myself to the project of making philosophical ideas accessible to non-specialists. I am still deeply committed to both “translating” philosophy and using philosophy to analyze popular culture.
